four ways to wear a plaid shirt
Is there anything more fall-ish than a plaid shirt? It’s cozy - yet cool; and because it's super versatile it allows you to create tons of outfits with it. So many outfits that I had to consult my bestie Suzanne Colmer, owner of Image & Style Consultant Agency ‘Your Shop Girl' to help me choose just 4!
Suzanne has taught me a lot about style over the years, and when chatting with her about this year’s fall trends she said “Covid has had a big effect on fall trends this year. The focus is on feeling cozy while looking cool. Shirt jackets, plaid, chunky boots, and sets (aka sweatsuits) are on everyone’s top 10 list. The key is to buy less (since we aren’t going out as much) but still being able to wear more of our clothes!” So here they are 4 cozy and cool ways to wear plaid this fall. Layered over a t-shirt
Plaid shirts are the best layering piece for fall. They allow you to add a second piece to your look, and help you look more 'put together'. They also keep you warm and look cool tied around your waist when you're feeling too warm.
How to wear: With black jeans With black cotton leggings With black faux leather leggings Pair it with a cute toque + layered necklaces |
around your waist
Available in neutral colours and bold hues alike, plaid shirts are incredibly versatile and add character to the simplest outfits!
How to wear: With a white t-shirt or graphic T With a leather Moto jacket With black jeans + chunky boots or simple flats |
Tucked or tied
Give your flannel a quick tuck or tie for a fresh new look. I love to leave mine unbuttoned and layer it over a t-shirt or tank.
How to wear: Tied and layered over a t-shirt or tank Buttoned and tucked into your fav jeans Pair it with cute boots or sneakers + layered necklaces! |
layered with a oversized cardigan
Button your flannel all the way up and keep it untucked while layering a oversized wool cardigan on top. Finish it off with a pair of black boots or white sneakers. This look is just as cozy as a sweatsuit, but is much chicer!
